The Matteau and Roy families sadly announce the passing of Fernand Matteau on January 24, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Loulou (Louise) Roy; sisters Michèle (Guy Archambault), Hélène (Alain Lalonde), Pauline (Éric Scullion), brother André (Manon Guilbert); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Roy: Claude (Micheline Gagnon), André (Carole Doucet), Micheline (Gaétan Boissonneault) and Hélène; nephews and nieces, cousins, as well as many friends and colleagues.

Fernand has devoted his entire career to serving workers. First as a union consultant with the CSN, then for 20 years with the Quebec Ministry of Labour, where he held various positions directly related to labour relations: conciliator-mediator, director of conciliation-mediation for the Montreal region, assistant deputy minister, director general of labour relations and, finally, president of the Conseil consultatif du travail et de la main-d’œuvre (CCTM).
