On August 23, 2021, Alain Rivet, son of the late André Rivet and Clémence Béland, died of cancer at the age of 58.

In addition to his mother and spouse, Linda Vaillancourt, he is survived by his sister, Marie-Claude Rivet, and her children, Anne-Cécile and Étienne Ladouceur, as well as many friends.

A former soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces, he was one of the peacekeepers on a peace mission to Cyprus in the early 1980s. Then, after learning the trade of welder, Alain worked with ardor and pride on construction sites that reminded him of loved ones, in particular his father-in-law, the late Jean-Louis Ménard, and his uncle, the late Normand Béland.
